From 23 to 25 February, Sonic Acts took up residence in Amsterdam-Noord for the second edition of Sonic Acts Academy – a new platform geared towards unpacking the processes of artistic knowledge. Across three days, we turned to a diverse community of artists, teachers, tutors, mentors, thinkers and tinkerers, to exchange ideas and push for alternate pathways in the field of education and knowledge production. As part of my work for Sonic Acts I am responsible for the promotional strategy and campaign for the monthly club night, Progress Bar. Progress Bar is a growing community of artists, academics and activists who occupy clubs for a better politics. When confronted with the world today – institutional inequality, neofascism, platform capitalism, austerity and a dying planet – being happy becomes a political act. Progress Bar supports radical club cultures that believe resistance is necessary in order to change the world. More info at progressbar.club
After being a freelancer for over five years, I’m now employed as full time Head of Marketing & Communicatios at Sonic Acts. I will be helping Sonic Acts with their overall marketing and communications strategy for their annual festival and events such as Progress Bar and Dark Ecology. Sonic Acts was founded in 1994. Over the years, Sonic Acts Festival has established itself as a thematic festival with a strong focus on contemporary and historical developments at the intersections of art, technology, music and science. Each festival edition explores the chosen theme by means of an international conference, a wide range of concerts and performances, exhibitions and screenings, and embraces a broad spectrum of fields, practices and disciplines.
I started working part time as senior communications manager for the NDSM Foundation. NDSM is the historical remainder of the largest shipyard in Amsterdam, now developing itself into a creative city at the north bank of the IJ river. The NDSM wharf has the promise to grow continuously as a gravity center of urban creative energy. NDSM remains an experimental urban environment, a self-made city. More info at ndsm.nl

Sagra is gevestigd op Plantage Kerklaan 24 in Amsterdam. Ga voor meer informatie naar sagra.nl.
Gwyneth Wentink, Wouter Snoei en Arnout Hulskamp present ‘In Code’. An audiovisual performance of ‘In C’ by Terry Riley with harp, electronica and visuals. “In C” by Terry Riley is shrouded in mystery. Rumored to be the first piece of minimal music ever written, it doesn’t have a fixed running time. Most renditions of this mysterious piece run somewhere between 45 or 90 minutes. Originallty arranged for 35 musicians, Wouter Snoei and Gwyneth Wenting made adjustments for electronica and harp. I will be helping the team with their PR and communications strategy.
Starting in November, I will be hosting a new club night ‘Metronome‘ at the famous OT301. A fixed aural pulse of electronic music. For the first edition on Friday November 20 we’ve invited two special guests; the young and talented producer HOEK from Amsterdam and the notorious dj Mark du Mosch from Rotterdam. Navigate your way through the barrage of drum machines and synth mayhem, and come to rest under the watchful eye of the Metronome..
Saturday the 18th of July marks the date of the very first 22fest, a new festival at the beautiful Diemerbos presented by 22tracks. Expect an intimate forest location with three stages, a delightful food line-up, a creative side-program and lots of great music to explore. As a project manager I helped to build up the festival’s promo strategy.
I’m very lucky to say that I’m working as Head of Marketing and Communications for the upcoming Rewire Festival in The Hague. Rewire is an annual international festival that showcases adventurous music. The programme is built around concerts, performances, club nights, screenings, artist talks and workshops. The fourth edition will take place on November 7 and 8 2014; at various venues across The Hague.
I’m happy to be working with one of the very best orchestras in the world, The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. It celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. The RCO developed a new format for the AAA concerts on Thursday nights: well over an hour of orchestral music without a break, preceded by a curtain-raiser (a prominent person discusses the theme on the Main Hall stage) and followed by the /entrée Late Night. The first concert in this format is thrilling in every respect: music for scary film moments, with film projections. Before the concert, the young and successful film director Pieter Kuijpers (well-known for films such as Van God Los and TBS) will speak about Suspense in music and film. For the next four AAA Thursdays (September, October, January and March). I’m working on the PR strategy and online communication together with design agency Grrr.
