Metronome with Unit Moebius Anonymous & Marsman

Metronome is my new club night at OT301 in Amsterdam. “A fixed aural pulse of electronic music”. I invited two very special guests for the second edition on Friday February 19th. Unit Moebius Anonymous, the act risen from the legendary techno band Unit Moebius, which is the keystone of the notorious Acid Planet days. Their influences are still to be heard in contemporary dance music. Even Aphex Twin claimed to be a fan! And Marsman, who has been making an impressive uprise in the last few years. hand in hand with a wide variety of artists whom he cherishes as his own family. And all of this is going down on his acknowledged label: Pinkman. Lately he added Charlois as a new imprint to the imperium. More information here: www.metronome.amsterdam

For the Firestarters project we invited street art legend Niels ‘Shoe’ Meulman to give a live Calligraffiti performance at the Firestarters Forum. Watch the video.

Niels Shoe Meulman (also known as Shoe) is an internationally known artist and graphic designer. He is born, raised and based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Meulman began tagging ‘Shoe’ in 1979 and became a graffiti legend by the time he was 18. In the eighties he met New York artists like Dondi, Rammellzee, Haze and Keith Haring. He then formed the Crime Time Kings with Bando from Paris and Mode2 from London. Together they gave graffiti in Europe its own distinctive style.

Virtueel Platform HOT100

Apart form my job at STEIM, I’ll be working on a project for Virtueel Platform this summer. Virtueel Platform is the sector institute for e-culture in the Netherlands. Its mission is to stimulate and strengthen cultural innovation by sharing knowledge about e-culture and increasing its visibility and scope. My job is to promote their event HOT100 at PICNIC Festival 2011. The HOT100 brings together the crème de la crème of the Dutch art academies, universities and universities of applied science in the fields of design, theory, communication or development skills. These talented students will soon be working or have recently started working in the new media sector. More information about VP and HOT100 here.
