Disquiet TV presents a unique concert streaming service

I’m asked to help promote a project called Disquiet TV. A unique and interactive virtual auditorium for contemporary music, established in conjunction with the multimedia label Disquiet. No other digital concert hall lets its audience get as close or as interactive with the music. Viewers can not only watch live streams of contemporary music events, but also choose from multiple video feeds, chat with other audience members using Twitter or through the website itself, talk to performers in backstage interviews and even direct the cameramen.

Trip to Japan

During the entire month of May 2012 I have been traveling through Japan. I visited big cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and experienced some special zen moments in small town villages like Hakone, Tsumago, Magome, Nara and Miyajima. One of the many highlights of my trip is the Naoshima island. The island is known for its many contemporary art museums. For example, the Chichu Art Museum (literally, “in the earth”) houses a number of site-specific installations by James TurrellWalter De Maria and paintings by Claude Monet. Designed by Tadao Ando, it is located on one of the highest points of the island, and various exhibits and facets of the museum’s architecture take advantage of its commanding view. Another contemporary museum (and hotel) is Benesse House, also by Ando. Another is the Naoshima Fukutake Art Museum, with an outdoor sculpture garden. There are some pictures on my Flickr.

New project: 5 Days Off

Excited to be working on a new communications project for 5 Days Off (7-11 March 2012). The two most renowned music venues Paradiso and Melkweg host the annual festival which doesn’t only focus on electronic music but also on a diversity of art disciplines which manifest in the ever evolving club culture. Therefore the festival also collaborates with the Dutch Institute of Media Art, NIMk. You can find more information about the festival at www.5daysoff.nl.

Antenna goes Amsterdam Dance Event

During nightly hours I like to work on my personal project Antenna. A new electronic music night I started this year together with some friends. The first edition in May was a success and the next one will be even better. Because we are invited to organise a new party during the Amsterdam Dance Event 2011. ADE is the leading electronic music conference and the world’s biggest club festival for electronic music. You can find more information about the line up and location here.

Virtueel Platform HOT100

Apart form my job at STEIM, I’ll be working on a project for Virtueel Platform this summer. Virtueel Platform is the sector institute for e-culture in the Netherlands. Its mission is to stimulate and strengthen cultural innovation by sharing knowledge about e-culture and increasing its visibility and scope. My job is to promote their event HOT100 at PICNIC Festival 2011. The HOT100 brings together the crème de la crème of the Dutch art academies, universities and universities of applied science in the fields of design, theory, communication or development skills. These talented students will soon be working or have recently started working in the new media sector. More information about VP and HOT100 here.

STEIM: Patterns + Pleasure Festival

This summer I will be working for STEIM as PR manager on the Patterns + Pleasure Festival (Sept 26, 27, 28). The Factory
