After being a freelancer for over five years, I’m now employed as full time Head of Marketing & Communicatios at Sonic Acts. I will be helping Sonic Acts with their overall marketing and communications strategy for their annual festival and events such as Progress Bar and Dark Ecology. Sonic Acts was founded in 1994. Over the years, Sonic Acts Festival has established itself as a thematic festival with a strong focus on contemporary and historical developments at the intersections of art, technology, music and science. Each festival edition explores the chosen theme by means of an international conference, a wide range of concerts and performances, exhibitions and screenings, and embraces a broad spectrum of fields, practices and disciplines.
Apart form my job at STEIM, I’ll be working on a project for Virtueel Platform this summer. Virtueel Platform is the sector institute for e-culture in the Netherlands. Its mission is to stimulate and strengthen cultural innovation by sharing knowledge about e-culture and increasing its visibility and scope. My job is to promote their event HOT100 at PICNIC Festival 2011. The HOT100 brings together the crème de la crème of the Dutch art academies, universities and universities of applied science in the fields of design, theory, communication or development skills. These talented students will soon be working or have recently started working in the new media sector. More information about VP and HOT100 here.
